It is You we worship and You we ask for help. [Quran 1:5]

And [mention, O Muhammad], the Day We will gather them all together; then We will say to those who associated others with Allah , "Where are your 'partners' that you used to claim [with Him]?" [Quran 6:22]

And when those who associated partners with Allâh see their (Allâh's so-called) partners, they will say: "Our Lord! These are our partners whom we used to invoke besides you." But they will throw back their word at them (and say): "Surely! You indeed are liars!" [Quran 16:86]

THE IMPORTANCE OF SALAAH (PRAYERS)

Be ever mindful of prayers, and of praying in the most excellent way; and stand before God in devout obedience. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 2, Verse 238

Salaah, one of the pillars of Islam is a duty enjoined upon believers to be performed sincerely and devotedly. A Muslim should always strive towards earning the pleasure of Allah (swt). There is undoubtedly no better way of achieving it than by fulfilling the purpose for which we have been sent on earth by Allah (swt).

And [tell them that] I have not created the invisible beings and men to any end other than that they may [know and] worship Me. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 51, Verse 56

As seen from the above verse of Glorious Qur’an, the purpose of creation is to Worship Allah (swt) and the best form of worship and remembrance of Allah (swt) is Salaah (prayers). It is a favor bestowed upon Muslim ummah from Allah (swt), the exalted, a solution to various difficulties one is to face en-route his life and a recipe for success in this life as well as the life of hereafter. Muslims are invited to earn this favor five times a day through Adhan (call for prayer).

The Importance of Salaah is recalled to Muslims five times a day whenever Adhan is pronounced,

Hayya 'alas-Salaah (Come to Prayers), Hayya 'alal-Falah (Come to Success)

Indeed successful are those believers who are humble in their Salaah (prayers). The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 23, Verses 1-2

Success comes from proper composition of well-defined purpose and sincere efforts. Thus alaah should be performed in full submissiveness and obedience. Allah (swt) thus asks believers to guard prayers strictly and offer Salaah in the best form.

Lo! the hypocrites seek to beguile Allah, but it is Allah who beguileth them. When they stand up to worship they perform it languidly and to be seen of men, and are mindful of Allah but little. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 4, Verse 142

The above verse from Surah Al-Nisa of Glorious Qur’an stresses the disliked way of praying, which reflects the deception in purpose, lack of vigor and thus a deficiency in love and fear towards Allah (swt). The true purpose of Salaah is remembrance of Allah (swt) and to seek pleasure of Allah (swt) by glorifying and praising him for his uncountable favors towards his creations. Allah (swt) affirms.

It is Me, Allah; there is none worthy of worship except Me, so worship Me and establish Salaah for My remembrance. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 20, Verse 14

Now that we have elaborated the correct purpose the methodology should also be perfected i.e observing Salaah at appointed times,

Narrated Abdullah bin Masud:

I asked Allah's Apostle, "O Allah's Apostle! What is the best deed?" He replied, "To offer the prayers at their early stated fixed times." I asked, "What is next in goodness?" He replied, "To be good and dutiful to your parents." I further asked, what is next in goodness?" He replied, "To participate in Jihad in Allah's Cause." I did not ask Allah's Apostle anymore and if I had asked him more, he would have told me more. (Sahih Bukhari, Book 4, Volume 52, Hadith 41)

Qur’an bears the testimony of the consequences one would face for being neglectful of Salaah by abandoning it.

But the generations who succeeded them abandoned the Salaah and started following their lusts; so they will soon face the consequences of their deviation. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 19, Verse 59

It is narrated on the authority of Abu Hurrayrah that the Prophet said “The first thing about which the people will be called to account out of their actions on the Day of Judgment is prayer. Our Lord, the Exalted, will say to the angels - though He knows better: Look into the prayer of My servant and see whether he has offered it perfectly or imperfectly.” (Dawud, Book 3, Hadith 863)

In Surah Al-Ma’arij verses 19-23, Allah (swt) uses the word halu’an to describe the restless and impatient nature of man. Whenever he is afflicted with some trouble he lacks the patience(Arabic: Sabr) and trembles in despair. This arises due to shortcomings in trust towards Allah (swt). On the other hand, when he is given in abundance he turns ungrateful towards the Sustainer Allah (swt). He is encompassed with arrogance and uncaring attitude towards the less fortunate ones. Thus Allah (swt) assures the observance of Salaah as way to preserve hope in times of grievance and humbleness & humility in periods of bountiful life. Salaah has the power to erase the roots of the evil deeds (Arabic: al-munkar) causing barrier amidst society and giving birth to wrong attitude of racial as well as financial discrimination and sinful intentions. Allah (swt) confirms the merit of Salaah.

Observe the Salaah (Contact Prayers) for it prohibits evil and vice. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 29, Verse 45

Muhammad (sas) draws an excellent parable in the Hadith below concerning the fruits of Salaah

Narrated Abu Huraira:

I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "If there was a river at the door of anyone of you and he took a bath in it five times a day would you notice any dirt on him?" They said, "Not a trace of dirt would be left." The Prophet added, "That is the example of the five prayers with which Allah blots out (annuls) evil deeds." (Sahih Bukhari, Book 1, Volume 10, Hadith 505)

Glory be to Allah (swt) who has given us such an opportunity to seek his pleasure and attain salvation.

Seek Allah's help with patience and Salaah: it is indeed hard to be patient and to be punctual in offering Salaah except for those who fear Allah. The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 2, Verse 45

“Good Things come at a Price” The price (remembrance of Allah (swt) through Salaah) we ought to pay is very miniscule compared to the wonderful reward we are to achieve i.e Paradise. May Allah (swt) give us the courage to establish constancy in Salaah!

THE OFTEN MISUNDERSTOOD VERSE OF THE HOLY QUR'AN

Al-Qur'an, Surah Aal-E-Imran Chapter 3 verse 169

نوُقَزْرُي ْمِهِّبَر َدْنِع ٌءاَيْحَأ ْلَب اًتاَوْمَأ ِهَّللا ِليِبَس ِفي اوُلِتُق َنيِذَّلا ََّﺒﻦَسْحَت لاَو

Wa Lā Taĥsabanna Al-Ladhīna Qutilū Fī Sabīli Allāhi 'Amwātāan Bal 'Aĥ?yā'un `Inda Rabbihim Yurzaqūna

"Think not of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead. Nay, they live, finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord"

Anyone who reads this verse of the Holy Qur'an, without knowing the reason behind the revelation of this verse and the hadith explaining it, will ultimately come to the conclusion that the Martyrs are very much alive in this world, they are not dead.

The same message is repeated in the Holy Qur'an Surah Al-Baqara Chapter 2 verse 154:

وَلا تَقُولُوا لِمَنْ يُقْتَلُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَمْوَاتٌ بَلْ أَحْيَاءٌ وَلَكِنْ لا تَشْعُرُونَ

Wa Lā Taqūlū Liman Yuqtalu Fī Sabīli Allāhi 'Amwātun Bal 'Aĥyā'un Wa Lakin Lā Tash`urūna

"And say not of those who are slain in the way of Allah: "They are dead." Nay, they are living, though ye perceive (it) not"

There is nothing wrong with this verse, nor with the conclusion drawn, except one thing. The martyrs are living and finding their sustenance in the presence of Allah(SWT), but NOT in this world. They are alive in Paradise. The misunderstood concept which almost many Muslims have, is that, they are living and alive in this world.To understand this we need to know, the reason behind the revelation of this verse and the hadith explaining it.

What was the reason behind the revelation of this verse?

If we carefully analyze the context of the verse which starts from verse 166, we find that Allah(SWT), was narrating about the reason behind the defeat of the Muslims in the battle of Uhud. When, the hypocrites, the so called Muslims were told to fight in the way of Allah(SWT) they lied that they knew not how to fight (Qur'an 3:167).More over, while sitting at ease, they where commenting on those who went forward to fight in Allah's way. They were taunting them saying that, had they listened to them, they would not have been slain (Qur'an 3:168). Seeing this unbelief, Allah (swt) rebukes such hypocrites, the so called Muslims, by saying that “Avert death from your own selves, if you speak the truth.” (Qur'an 3:168). Then Allah (swt) rebukingly tells them that,"Think not of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead..."(Qur'an 3:169).

Authentic Hadith explaining this verse.

The sahabaas (companions of the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) also had the same doubt about this verse.

Abu Dawud : (Kitab Al-Jihad): Book 14 : Hadith 2514

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: When your brethren were smitten at the battle of Uhud, Allah put their spirits in the crops of green birds which go down to the rivers of Paradise, eat its fruit and nestle in lamps of gold in the shade of the Throne. Then when they experienced the sweetness of their food, drink and rest, they asked: Who will tell our brethren about us that we are alive in Paradise provided with provision, in order that they might not be disinterested in jihad and recoil in war? Allah Most High said: I shall tell them about you; so Allah sent down; "And do not consider those who have been killed in Allah's path..."

Sahih Muslim : (Kitab Al-Imara): Book 20 : Hadith 4651

It has been narrated on the authority of Masruq Who said: We asked 'Abdullah about the Qur'anic verse:" Think not of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead..." (iii. 169). He said: We asked the meaning of the verse (from the Holy Prophet) who said: The souls, of the martyrs live in the bodies of green birds who have their nests in chandeliers hung from the throne of the Almighty. They eat the fruits of Paradise from wherever they like and then nestle in these chandeliers. Once their Lord cast a glance at them and said: Do ye want anything? They said: What more shall we desire? We eat the fruit of Paradise from wherever we like. Their Lord asked them the same question thrice. When they saw that they will continue to be asked and not left (without answering the question). they said: O Lord, we wish that Thou mayest return our souls to our bodies so that we may be slain in Thy way once again. When He (Allah) saw that they had no need, they were left (to their joy in heaven).

Thus we find that to rebuke the hypocrites and to inspire the believers to fight in Allah's way & in order that they might not be disinterested in Jihad, Allah revealed this verse.

"Every soul is living. Soul of no human beings die, it just tastes death.(Qur'an 3:185,21:35,29:57). A martyr's soul is living in Paradise, provided with provision, while a normal human soul is alive, but in a suspended state known in Arabic as the Barzakh."

The Martyrs i.e the believer's who are slain in Allah's way are no more a part of this world i.e; they are dead in this world. They are alive & living in Paradise. Their world is different from ours so they cannot hear us, nor can they talk, nor can they walk, nor can they hold anything of this world. They have no contact with this world, because there is a barrier between this life and the next. "...it will be too late because there will be a barrier between them and the world they have just left till the Day they are raised to life again.(Qur'an 23:99-100 ) and Nor are alike those that are living and those that are dead. Allah can make any that He wills to hear; but thou canst not make those to hear who are (buried) in graves.(Qur'an 35:22)

Read the Qur'an with understanding. Don't just believe what the imaams say or what others say.

"Those who listen to the Word, and follow the best (meaning) in it: those are the ones whom Allah has guided, and those are the ones endued with understanding." (Qur'an 39:18)

"MUSLIMS DON'T CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS!"

The Christians celebrate Christmas day, as a day on which according to their erroneous belief, Jesus (pbuh), the son of God was born.

Mind the words in the bold letter. The Christians don’t celebrate Christmas day as a day in which Allah’s prophet Jesus (pbuh) was born, but instead, they celebrate the birth of the son of God.

When you celebrate Christmas or say Merry Christmas, you are testifying their erroneous belief of Jesus (pbuh) being the son of God. And this is a grave sin.

By doing so, you are giving Shahadah, to their sinful belief.

Now go through this:

Al-Qur'an, Surah Maryam 19 verse 88-92

Verse 88: They say: "(Allah) Most Gracious has begotten a son!"

Verse 89: Indeed ye have put forth a thing most monstrous!

Verse 90: At it the skies are ready to burst, the earth to split asunder, and the mountains to fall down in utter ruin,

Verse 91: That they should invoke a son for (Allah) Most Gracious.

Verse 92: For it is not consonant with the majesty of (Allah) Most Gracious that He should beget a son.

Look at these verses. It clearly shows Allah’s anger on the one who says that Allah has begotten a son. Allah says that those who say that Allah has begotten a son have said the most monstrous thing ever to Allah.

So, it's our duty to prohibit ourselves from saying such monstrous things, as well as prohibit ourselves from helping those who do so.

Mind it, that our love for Allah(swt) should be greater than our love for anyone else. Don't think that if you don't attend the Christmas party or wish your friends Merry Christmas, then your friends will get to think bad about you.

Just for the sake of pleasing your friends and keeping your relation better with your friends, you cannot let Allah(swt) to be abused and your relationship with the best of friends i.e Allah to deteriorate.

THE COLLECTIVE OBJECTIVE AND AIM OF THE MUSLIM UMMAH

We Muslims are the member of an Ummah (Islamic community) whose sole purpose of existence and the aim of installation, according to Qur’an, is none other than calling people to Allah i.e. giving DA'WAH. As such, in this terrestrial existence not only our dignity and honor depends on realizing this collective aim, but our very existence as a religious community also depends on executing this duty in the right earnest.

In the seventeenth section (ruku) of Surah Al-Baqarah (the Cow), along with the order for the change of Qiblah, the following verse was revealed:

“And thus have We made you an exalted (middle) nation (Ummah), that you may be the bearers of witness against the people and (that) the Messenger of Allah may be the bearer of witness against you.” (2:143)

The objective and aim of the formation of this Ummah has been described very clearly thus in Surah Al-i-Imran:

“You are the best of the nations raised up for (the benefit of)men: you enjoin what is right and forbid the wrong and believe in Allah.” (3:110)”

This verse makes it crystal clear that, according to the Qur’an, there is a radical difference in the ultimate aims and goals of the Muslim Ummah and other nations and communities of the world.

By and large the goals which most nations of the world have been aiming at are self-aggrandizement, political power and military armaments, amassing of wealth, and subjugation of other peoples for their own selfish ends. This subjugation has been both political and/or cultural and economic.

On the other hand, the aim and object of the very existence of this Ummah is that Allah (SWT) is recognized as the Lord of the Universe, His commands are exalted and upheld by all, the truth triumphs, virtues and good deeds flourish and vices and wickedness are completely uprooted.

In other words, this Ummah is in reality the representative of God on earth: an agency for the propagation of virtue and an institution for the total eradication of evil and falsehood from this world.

History is a witness to the fact that so long as the Islamic community as a whole discharged its divinely ordained duty, it was itself exalted and honored along with the Truth it stood for. But when it turned a blind eye to its very raison d’etre and became only a nation like other nations pursuing worldly riches and comforts, it became the target of Divine wrath in the same way as the children of Israel had become earlier. In the beginning the punishment was confined to:

“And if you turn your backs He will bring in your stead a people other than you” (48: 38)

The sole aim of this Ummah is to invite people to the call of Allah. And not only its honour and respect, its very survival rests on the fulfillment of this aim.

There is only one way, both for the ‘ummiyyeen’ (unlettered people i.e. the Arabs) and ‘akhereen’ (other non-Arab nations) taking inspirations from the happy tidings contained in the Qur’an:

“It may be that your Lord will have mercy on you” (17:8)

they should build up their morale and pay heed to the Divine warning:

“….and if you again return (to disobedience) We too will return (to punishment).” (17:8)

They should get up to discharge their duties honestly and sincerely. These repeated warnings are for us only to remind that there is no way for we Muslims but to turn to Allah (SWT). And that not only for regaining the past grandeur and glory but also for the guarantee of our survival, there is no programme of action for us except turning ourselves and inviting others to Allah (SWT).

100 FABRICATED HADITH

The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "He who tells a lie on me intentionally, let him take his seat in the Hellfire" (Bukhari Volume 1, No 107). Whenever a person quotes a fabricated hadith knowingly, he or she is guilty of lying on the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Fabricated ahadith stunt the spiritual growth of the Muslim Ummah.
